ONTARIO MASTERS 2017
Greetings Master skiers.  The Ontario Masters XC Ski Championships will be held at the GEORGIAN NORDIC SKI CLUB in Parry  Sound, Ontario, on Feb 3, 4 5, 2017.  Please note that this is a change from the previously announced event which was to be at North Bay Nordic.  Due to a change in North Bay’s personnel, they did not feel comfortable with hosting the race this year, and notified us at the end of the summer. We are thankful that Georgian Nordic has stepped up to the plate, and has agreed to host the 2017 event.
The courses will revert to the ‘old’ system:
Friday, February 3      Short (10 km) classic, starting 2 pm
Saturday, February 4  Long (20 km) classic or skate (one choice), starting 9 am or 11 am
Sunday, February 5     Short (10 km) skate, starting 9 am.

There will be a dinner/social on Friday evening at Georgian Nordic and Banquet on Saturday evening (location TBA).  Further details wlll be in the November newsletter.

Registration for the Masters can be done through Zone4 or by submitting the race form attached with the next newsletter. Questions about the event or race information can be forwarded to Wendy Grater wendy@blackfeather.com .

MWC 2017 – KLOSTERS, SWITZERLAND
Approximately 70 Canadians have accommodations booked for Klosters. If anyone is still planning on going but do not have accommodations, please contact me ASAP. With the exception of Asiago, this will be the largest Canadian contingent to participate in Europe. As in previous years we will still be using the results of the short races to pick our relay teams. You will note that the relays will be held on the last day instead of in the middle of the event. While the deadline for registration is in January if you are only registering for MWC 2017, it is November 15, 2016 if you are doing the Engadin as well. In order to get the reduced rate for the Engadin you must be registered for both events by November 15.
The following Ontario Masters members have already booked accommodation in Klosters:
Joseph Kryger                         Wendy Grater
Peter Remek                            Marcus Boyle

CANADIAN MASTERS 2017 – Charlo, New Brunswick
The 2017 Canadian Masters Races will be from February 12 – 18, 2017 . This will be hosted by the Les Aventuriers Ski Club in Charlo. They already have much planning done, and the location is blessed with excellent snow conditions and an amazing trail network. www.canadian-masters-xc-ski.ca and click on the ‘Championships” link where you will see the complete Bid Document.

ONTARIO MASTERS 2017
It is very likely that the  2017 Ontario Masters Championships will be at North Bay Nordic. We are presently determining the exact weekend, and schedule of events.  We will ensure that this event does not conflict with the Nationals in Charlo, or the MWC in Switzerland.  We will keep you updated on the exact date so you can mark it on your schedule.

POINTS SERIES RESULTS
Only 2 loppets, Fischer & Scenic Caves, have been added to the standings which were attached to the March newsletter. Jane Ravenshaw with 500 points finished with a narrow margin over Chris Huet with 497.21 points.
Richard Thomas maintained his lead, also with 500 points. Harry vanderLugt was 2nd with 479.68 points and David White was 3rd with 477.75 points. Ed deLaplante placed 6th with 398.66 points with only 4 races on his schedule. The iron man was Rob Cheskey skiing in 10 events (4th place with 475.16 points). David White skied in 9 events. Given the number of cancelled events during the season due to poor snow conditions, 9 and 10 events attended is very impressive.
The final point standings are attached. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
