newsletter to friends who may wish to join and participate in our sport, including the Ontario

championships!

Remember you must be a member of the Ontario Masters to participate in

1)The racing points series

2)The Ontario Masters Championships

3)The Canadian Masters (Bill Gairdner) championships

4)World Masters championship

BC!  Winner can choose classic ski or skate ski individually fitted by our Fischer techs.

Canada.

Silverstar Social

The Silverstar social was a great success with 29 people from Ontario

coming to the dinner at the Red Antler. It just goes to show how popular

Silverstar is for our Ontario members to get on snow early in the season!

Technique Day- Highland Nordic with Gord Salt

The Technique Day was a great success. We had 16 Ontario Masters who

participated in this fun and informative session led by Gord. We had

beautiful conditions at Highland Nordic with lots of snow. We covered

both classic and skate techniques. Check out our facebook page to see

some pictures. Search for Ontario Masters Cross Country Ski Association.

Ontario Masters Championships -Mar 6-8

Mark your calendars! Hardwood Ski and Bike is hosting the Ontario

Masters championships in conjunction with the traditional Hardwood

Loppet on March 7 th . Prices go up after March 1st!

https://pulseracing.ca/2026ontariomasters/

You must be a member of the Ontario Masters to participate. Please see the

link to the Pulse Racing site for all the details including hotels. There will

be a link to the actual registration on zone 4 from there to register.

Please be aware of a couple of details when registering on zone 4. The

official Ontario Masters events are 5km/ 10 km races on Friday and Sunday

(5km distance is for women F09+ and M10+ only) . When you register you

will be placed in the correct race based on age.

Saturday’s 15 km official Ontario Masters championship event is for F09+

and M10+ only. The 30 km race is the official race for those who are

younger than this. Skate and Classic long distance races both run Saturday

so you can choose your preferred technique. This long-distance race for all

age categories counts as one of your long-distance races for the points

series.

Note: If you do not meet the Ontario Masters age requirements and

register for the 15km you will be in the Hardwood Loppet and will not

be part of the Ontario Masters championships.

This is a totally fine choice but it will not count towards your Ontario

Masters Championship races (you require two races) for the point series.

Additional Award- Relentless Racer

This award is presented to the skier who completes the most Ontario Masters designated races in a

season. If there’s a tie, all tied racers will be recognized. The award is not split by gender; it simply

honors the skier(s) who demonstrate the greatest passion for racing and participation. This will be

presented at the AGM.

Looks like Werner is on a roll and is leading contender for Relentless Racer!

Prizes!!!!!!!

New to the Provincial Masters Point Series for 2025/26 are a premium prize for the points category

winners. The Overall Men's Points winner will receive a set of KV+ Tornado Plus ski poles (170 cm

cuttable to length) and the Overall Women's Points winner will receive a set of KV+ Tornado Lilac

poles (essentially Lilac coloured Tornado Plus). Ontario Masters has worked in collaboration with KV+

Canada (Sergey Meshkov) to provide these. These are being provided at a very big discount to Ontario

Masters thanks to Sergey!

Team Uniforms

The first order of the new Canadian Masters uniforms has been delivered to members just over the

Christmas Holiday period. You will start to see members wear their new clothing on the trails. If you are

interested in purchasing your own there are a couple routes. There will be a third round of ordering

opening up in the next few weeks. Delivery time is ~8 weeks. Please email Mark Orzel, Cdn Masters

Clothing Coordinator at morzel@rogers.com your interest and he will send you all the relevant

information including some information on sizing.

Another route is to purchase a piece or two from a member that ordered in the first round but is not

finding the sizing to their liking. Members who are looking to swap or sell pieces of their kit are posting

on a Facebook Group called Canadian Masters Cross country Ski Association Info Exchange: Check out

the group to see if there are items that you might want to purchase from another member. This route will

be the fastest way to get some great looking and functional clothing.

There is also some inventory available with Mike Bell and the Canadian Masters. I have enclosed the

document that describes the current inventory with prices. Please reach out to Mike Bell

canadianmastersxcski@gmail.com and cc: Mark morzel@rogers.com if you are interested in any of the

on-hand inventory.
